The project "Political Graffiti Forum"

Dear Genovese Worldwide,

Please find here attached the presentation of an interesting initiative coming from one of our first contacts: Patricia BARAKAT.

This is a Masters research thesis work in progress at Notre Dame University (Lebanon) in the faculty of Architecture, Art and Design. This research is presented as an application of a first part of a theoretical study on political graffiti under the supervision of Dr.Eugene Sensenig-Dabbous.

The subject matter under study is related to the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri that took place on February 14, 2005 in Beirut and the consequent popular reaction in the form of graffiti.

In the first part of this study it was evident through graffiti that Lebanese people were united.

This website aims at opening a forum which will allow graffiti makers to express their opinions, anonymously or not, on a virtual wall emulating the Martyrs' Square. This forum intends mainly to answer this question: "Are Lebanese people still united?", "Were they really united?", "Was PM Hariri's assassination a trigger for uniting people of different backgrounds, religions, ideologies, parties..?"

Il Progetto " Forum dei graffiti politici "

Carissimi Genovese nel Mondo,

Qui di seguito troverete la presentazione di una iniziativa molto interessante che ci giunge da una dei nostri primi contatti: Patricia BARAKAT.

Si tratta di una ricerca di tesi attualmente in corso presso la facoltà di architettura arte e design dell' Università Notre Dame in Libano. Fa parte di uno studio teorico sui graffiti murali condotto sotto la supervisione del Dr Eugene Sensening-Dabbous, ed analizza le scritte murali che hanno commentato l' assassionio del Primo Ministro libanese Rafik Hariri, avvenuto nel Febbraio 2005.

Le prime conclusioni pongono in evidenza l'unità del popolo libanese.

In questa prospettiva è stato attivato il website:

con lo scopo di mettere a disposizione di chiunque vi sia interessato un foro di dibattito e di contributi per dare l'opportunità di esprimersi e di trovare un risposta ad alcuni quesiti:

" Si puo' considerare che il popolo libanese sia ancora unito ? " " Lo è stato anche nel passato ? " " La morte di Hariri ha contribuito in qualche modo all'unione di gente di diversa origine, religione, ideologia, appartenenza politica ? "
